Carling Developments have put together a team of individuals with many years experience in the sport and leisure sector. The team have held senior roles with the market leaders in the industry and have played important roles in the delivery of some of the worlds greatest sporting events.
A selection of projects the team have been involved in are highlighted below:
1. Events - Sport
Sydney Olympic Games 2000
Venue Managers at several major venues, included overlay design and implementation and on-going operation.
Brisbane Goodwill Games 2001
Overlay and on-going management responsibility across all venues.
Salt Lake City, Winter Olympic Games 2002
Primary responsibility for opening and closing ceremonies at The Olympic Stadium.
Manchester Commonwealth Games 2002
Provision of consultancy to review and manage the security operation across the event.
FIFA World Cup, Japan/Korea 2002
Venue manager of one of the stadia in Japan.
Rugby World Cup Sevens, Hong Kong 1997
Venue Manager and responsible for planning, development, and on-going management of the event.
2. Events - Other
Rock Concerts
 Operational planning and delivery of several large-scale rock concerts at the Hong Kong Stadium including performances by Phil Collins, Jean-Michel Jarre, Depeche Mode, and Peter Gabriel amongst others.
3. Venues
Wembley Stadium Complex
Commercial responsibility for stadium, arena and conference and exhibition halls.
This included event procurement, sponsorship and advertising.
Hong Kong National Stadium
Represented the client (local government) throughout the design and build programme. Responsible for the implementation of operational structure and procedures as well as the recruitment and training of operational team and the on-going management of the stadium.
Disney Entertainment Venue, Singapore
Operational design throughout development of the facility. Developed operational team and processes and on-going management of the facility.
FA Premier League Hall Of Fame, County Hall, London
Development of all operational procedures, structure and team.
The Management Team
Managing Director - Marcus Carling
Marcus has been involved in the sport and leisure world for over 15 years and has operated in a number of international markets.
He has played a key role in building the operation of 4 new leisure businesses and has held senior roles with industry leaders, Wembley and Disney.
Marcus has a wide range of experience in the industry, which has included stadia, entertainment venues and visitor attractions within which his primary focus has been on operational effectiveness.
Technical Director - Graham Inger
Graham has almost 30 years experience in service delivery in the property, facilities and construction industries.
Graham has provided high-level project management for organisations on a number of large-scale leisure and sport facilities that have included the Wembley complex in London and the Hong Kong National Stadium.
Finance Consultant - Alan Murray
Alan is a qualified accountant and was Financial Director with a number of public companies before moving into the sport and entertainment sector 15 years ago. Most of this time has been spent with Wembley plc where he held a number of high profile positions.
Originally Commercial Director for the Company he became Chief Executive of the Conference and Exhibition Division before moving into his most recent role as Chief Executive of the Hong Kong National Stadium for Wembley International.
Consultant - Charles Quelch
After a number of years in sports promotion, Charles joined Marcus at the Hong Kong Stadium where he was responsible for all event activity, this included a mix of sport and entertainment.
He followed Marcus to Singapore to open a Disney entertainment facility before becoming a venue manager at both the Sydney Olympics and Goodwill Games in Brisbane, Australia.
Charles provided security and operational consultancy to the Manchester Commonwealth Games before joining Carling Developments as a Director.
Consultant - Ralph Ord
With 15 years in the sports industry, Ralph brings a wealth of experience to the team.
Ralph has played a key role in several of the worlds most recent major events; these have included the Sydney Olympics, Goodwill Games, Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and FIFA World Cup and is currently providing operational support to the Rugby World Cup in Australia.
